Sam Cohen
I’m Sam Cohen and have a master’s degree in business law from the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.
With over 25 years of experience in business development, I have specifically dealt with the hotel and tourism industry over the past 16 years.
Here’s a short summary.
I started my career as a general counsel in Atradius, an international insurance company. I quickly joined the business development team of the company as a general counsel. This role helped me to gain extensive international experience whilst handling take-overs and start-ups of various daughter companies for Atradius.
In 2005, I set up my own advisory firm and continued to work as interim senior counsel for various major Dutch companies.
This then led to a hotel consultancy firm called CHN+ Partners where I was responsible for handling the legalities of international hotel chains who were opening hotels in new locations.
With the experience I gained from advising others in the hotel business, I felt the urge to do things differently. The result was Conscious Hotels.
In the role of managing director, I was responsible for the development of this sustainable hotel chain.
I founded Aandagt Capital, in September 2022, after selling my shares in Conscious Hotels to NIPA Capital.

How it started
The man on the right of this photo is my grandfather Samuel Cohen.
Along with his brother, Samuel owned and ran a butcher’s shop in the centre of Amsterdam. You can make out the family name on the shop window behind him. In the picture, second from the left, you can see my grandmother Clara Cohen-Blits and other family members.
We believe this photo was taken around 1938. It is one of the few records of them that survived.
I never knew my grandfather, or the other family members you see here, but I believe he passed something precious on to me – his entrepreneurial spirit.
I founded Aandagt Capital in his memory hoping to continue our family’s entrepreneurial legacy.
